How ready are you?

 

This morning I was reflecting on an experience I had twelve weeks ago. 

Because of the drugs I had been taking I truly believed that the time had come for the second coming of the Lord.

At first I was afraid for my husband. I thought that I would be taken up and he would be not make it and we would be separated for Eternity. 

But as I witnessed how much he loved me that fear subsided. Then my thoughts went to: "How ready are YOU?"

The truthful answer surprised me. I started looking around at what my life was like and realized how much of my life was in disorder and how much I had strayed from where I knew I should be.

I realized that slowly I had gotten off course and was amazed at how far I had gotten.

If the Savior came tomorrow to have the angels call his elect, would you be among them? Is there anything in your life that would stop you from feeling worthy?

I do feel that the Second Coming is a lot closer than some of us realize. Because of the experience I had I feel I have corrected my course and I am striving to get closer to the covenant path every day.

I pray that we can all truly look forward to that day when the Angels call us to join with our Savior in coming to a new heaven and new earth.

  As we talked today about the Joy of Daily Repentance today at Relief Society, it reminded me of Psalm 19:12-13 12 Who can understand his errors? Cleanse Thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous acts; let them not have dominion over me; then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgressions.  This Psalm of David talks about "secret faults" and "presumptuous acts".  I believe he was talking about the faults we are not seeing in ourselves and those acts that we fail to recognize as inappropriate. I remember in one of my child development classes from BYU stating that parents make about 12 statements a day that have a negative impact on their children without even being aware. Sharing the Gospel Freely

Today I ran across a man that wanted to share truths that he had learned and invited me to look at his website. To my surprise it was advertising his book for just under $20. Yes, the website had snippets of what I would learn if purchasing the book, but I could see no place that someone could read the book online or get it for free using Kindle.  Our Heavenly Father wants His truth shouted from the rooftop and not for sale at a price. As far as I know there is only one God that requires payment for knowledge and I wouldn't trust any truth from him. It reminds me of something we learn in the Temple when Apostles of the Lord ask Adam if he has any tokens. I am hopefully this man was only led astray about asking for knowledge at a price and not sharing knowledge that was given him by that same source. Let us always remember that Gospel knowledge is priceless.

Esther's Shining Example

As we conclude our study of Queen Esther I reflect on my own life and what it is like to be married to a man that does his best to honor me and live a life that is good without the Light of Christ leading him. Queen Esther not only saved her people but I believe she saved her husband by her example of humility and mercy. I also think of the hymn by Phillip P, Bliss "Let the Lower Lights be Burning". Just recently I was so focused on living my life in accordance to the first and greatest commandment that I lost sight of the second commandment. I started judging the love of my life by how he wasn't living the first that I was breaking the second commandment. I was no longer being a beaming light of love and mercy that I left my husband in total darkness. "DARK THE NIGHT OF SIN HAS SETTLED.
