Strong Roots

John Parry
1789-1868
John Parry's Granddaughter was Elizabeth Williams. Her Granddaughter was Agatha Newton (My Grandmother). He was from Wales and the first Choir Conductor. He was also a master stonecutter that worked on the Salt Lake and Logan Temples

All this I have know from my childhood. What I didn't know was about who he was before joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Today I learned about a deeper legacy.

"Mr. Parry was one of the main founders and pillars of Campbellism in Wales, and many of the churches he planted accepted his advice as a father..."

"No doubt it will cause great happiness that Mr. John Parry (formerly of Newmarket), his three sons, and his wife.... have become subjects of the kingdom of the living God"

"... now Mr. Parry sees (as everyone sees who comes through the same door into the same divine kingdom) the difference between doing the best they can and believing they are right, and the certainty he receives from God through the Spirit.

I love the certainty that being a member of God's Kingdom brings. As I get closer and closer to the Godhead no matter whatever winds try to knock me down I feel certain that I will stay true to the roots that is part of my family tree and stand true. I am so grateful for the example of John Parry that once he was introduced to the fulness of the Gospel got on the path of truth and never looked back.

I know that the Church of Jesus Christ is on the earth. I know that through the Prophet Joseph Smith it was restored. I know that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God. It is by following it and the Prophet we can be certain that we are on the Covenant Path. I love to go to the Temple and have the opportunity to assist more to get on that path.
