Beyond the mark.



Jacob taught in Jacob 4:14 that the Jews were blinded because the were looking "beyond the mark". I have been guilty of this lately. 

I have been so focused on future outcomes of my book and games that I have forgotten to focus on "the Mark"

The beautiful thing about this is just realizing and making a course correction.

Satan would have us get down on ourselves for making mistakes. On the other hand our Savior and Heavenly Father simply want us to notice and make the correction in our course.

Please know that Heavenly Father and Jesus love you beyond measure and trust that you can get back onto the path if you feel you need to make that course correction.

In October 2023 General Conference, Elder David A Bednar said

 "Each of us should evaluate our temporal and spiritual priorities sincerely and prayerfully to identify the things in our lives that may impede the bounteous blessings that Heavenly Father and the Savior are willing to bestow upon us. And surely the Holy Ghost will help us to see ourselves as we really are."

He went on the say "I promise that we will be blessed with the capacity and judgment to strengthen our covenant connection with the living Lord."

May we all have the blessings that Heavenly Father has in store for us by stayig connected to Our Savior.

  As we talked today about the Joy of Daily Repentance today at Relief Society, it reminded me of Psalm 19:12-13 12 Who can understand his errors? Cleanse Thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous acts; let them not have dominion over me; then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgressions.  This Psalm of David talks about "secret faults" and "presumptuous acts".  I believe he was talking about the faults we are not seeing in ourselves and those acts that we fail to recognize as inappropriate. I remember in one of my child development classes from BYU stating that parents make about 12 statements a day that have a negative impact on their children without even being aware. Sharing the Gospel Freely

Today I ran across a man that wanted to share truths that he had learned and invited me to look at his website. To my surprise it was advertising his book for just under $20. Yes, the website had snippets of what I would learn if purchasing the book, but I could see no place that someone could read the book online or get it for free using Kindle.  Our Heavenly Father wants His truth shouted from the rooftop and not for sale at a price. As far as I know there is only one God that requires payment for knowledge and I wouldn't trust any truth from him. It reminds me of something we learn in the Temple when Apostles of the Lord ask Adam if he has any tokens. I am hopefully this man was only led astray about asking for knowledge at a price and not sharing knowledge that was given him by that same source. Let us always remember that Gospel knowledge is priceless.

Esther's Shining Example

As we conclude our study of Queen Esther I reflect on my own life and what it is like to be married to a man that does his best to honor me and live a life that is good without the Light of Christ leading him. Queen Esther not only saved her people but I believe she saved her husband by her example of humility and mercy. I also think of the hymn by Phillip P, Bliss "Let the Lower Lights be Burning". Just recently I was so focused on living my life in accordance to the first and greatest commandment that I lost sight of the second commandment. I started judging the love of my life by how he wasn't living the first that I was breaking the second commandment. I was no longer being a beaming light of love and mercy that I left my husband in total darkness. "DARK THE NIGHT OF SIN HAS SETTLED.
